Abstract

The yellow-crested cockatoo is a frugivore, which eats fruit, although it sometimes also eats seeds. The yellow-crested parrot is a wild animal from the parrot family whose population in the wild is
endangered. The purpose of this study was to determine the feeding activity of the yellow-crested
cockatoo (Cacatua sulphurea) on Pasoso Island, Balaesang Tanjung District, Donggala Regency,
Central Sulawesi. The method used to observe the feeding behavior of the yellow-crested parrot is the direct observation method or (Scanning Sampling). Data was taken when the yellow-crested cockatoo bird carried out its feeding activity, by following its daily activities, from early morning to late afternoon. Feeding activity data was analyzed descriptively by observing the time of attendance during the observation and displayed in the form of a diagram showing the time the presence of the yellowcrested parrot looking for food in one day and recording the bird's eating activity starting from taking food, putting it in its mouth until it stops eating. Recording the time of attendance on Perch activities from the start of perching in a tree to moving to another tree. Record time attendance during flyovers or flights around nesting sites. The results showed that the feeding activity of the yellow-crested cockatoo The most commonly observed daily time use of these birds was when they were perched (59%) followed by flying (28%) and eating (13%).
