Abstract

Food needs are almost completely dependent on plants, because of that since prehistoric times humanshave made a selection of plants that can be used as food plants. The research was carried out for about two months from July to September 2022 located in Ngata Baru Village, Sigi Biromaru Sub-District, SigiDistrict. The research aims to determine the types of plants used by the community, the parts used by thecommunity as food, how to process them and how to use them. The method used is descriptive qualitative,data collection is done through interviews. The data gathered was analyzed by percentage and thendescribed. Determination of the sample using the Slovin method (1960) with a total sample taken of 40respondents. The research results revealed that there were 31 types of food plants from 24 families. Themost widely used plant species is kepok banana (Musa acuminata) with a percentage of 8.78%. The typesof plants that are often used are cultivated plants with a percentage of 69.44%. The part that is most widelyused is the fruit with a percentage of 36.59%. The most processing of food plants by the community is by boiling with a percentage of 30.65% and the method of utilizing food plants is mostly by eating, namelyconsisting of staple food groups with a percentage of 38%.
