PENGARUH BERBAGAI DOSIS KOMPOS KULIT KOPI (Coffea arabica L) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN SEMAI MAHONI (Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Jacq)
Abstract
Mahoni (Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Jacq) is widely planted as a protective tree because of its heat-resistant nature and has good adaptability to various soil conditions so that it still survives adorning the roadside in some areas. The purpose of this study was to find out how the various doses of coffee skin affect the growth of Mahogany seedlings (Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Jacq). This study was conducted for 3 months, from August to October 2020, located at the Permanent Nursery bpdas Palu-Poso, located in the campus area of Tadulako University, Palu, Central Sulawesi. This study uses the Complete Random Design method (RAL) which consists of four treatment standards, namely: P0 Soil without coffee skin compost (Control), P1 Soil 1 kg + coffee skin compost 200 g, P2 Soil 1 kg + coffee skin compost 400 g, P3 Soil 1 kg + coffee skin compost 600 g. The results of this study showed that the composting of coffee skin on mahogany seedlings (Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Jacq) has a real influence on the increase in height, stem diameter, increase in the number of leaves. With a seedling height of 3.59 cm, the diameter of the stem is 0.71 mm, the number of leaves is 3.2 strands. The composting of coffee skin to mahogany seedlings (Swietenia Mahagoni (L.) jacq) has a real influence on the increase in height, diameter, number of leaves. P3 treatment (soil 1 kg + coffee skin compost 600 g) exerts a better influence in increasing the growth of Mahogany seedlings (Swietenia Mahagoni (L.) jacq) compared to other treatments. The highest seed quality index value is found in the p3 treatment (1:600 g) which is 2.50 and the lowest seed quality index value is found in the p0 (Control) treatment which is 1.01, if the seed quality index value of more than 0.09 seedlings is declared suitable for planting.
