PERANAN MASYARAKAT DALAM PENINGKATAN JASA EKOSISTEM PENYEDIA AIR DI KELURAHAN TEGALREJO KABUPATEN POSO

Abstract

Forests and water are closely related in maintaining ecosystem balance. Forests play an important
role in regulating the availability, quality, and distribution of water in an area. Forests regulate the
hydrological cycle such as trees in the forest help absorb rainwater, store it in the soil, and release it
back into the atmosphere through the process of evapotranspiration. This study aims to determine the
role of the community in improving the ecosystem services of water providers in Tegal Rejo Village,
Poso Regency. This research will be conducted in Tegal Rejo Village, Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi
Province for two months, from May to August 2024. This research was conducted because there was a
water crisis or decreasing water discharge and to determine the role of the community in improving
the ecosystem services of water providers. This research is a qualitative study using content analysis
through in-depth interviews and observations. The results of the study on the role of the community in
improving the ecosystem services of water providers in Tegal Rejo Village, Poso Regency, namely that
community understanding, utilization, involvement, and concern are still relatively low and community
utilization of water resources is very high, the researcher hopes that community awareness and
understanding in improving the ecosystem services of water providers will increase and the
government or related institutions can provide more socialization and education to the community.
