PENGARUH KOMPOS DAUN GAMAL (Gliricidia maculata Hbr) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN SEMAI MAHONI (Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Jacq) DI POLYBAG
Abstract
One alternative to producing good seedlings is the use of media that are suitable for seedling growth so
that they can produce healthy seedlings with very optimal growth compost is a good material to use.
Growing media that accelerates the growth of seedlings because compost is an organic fertilizer
obtained from weathering plant materials or organic waste. This study was conducted to find out the
effect of the comparison of gamal leaf compost (Gliricidia maculata Hbr) and underground soil layers
on the growth of mahagony seedlings (Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Jacq) in polybags. This study uses a
Complete Random Design (RAL), consisting of 4 treatment standards, namely: K0 = Subsoil soil
(control), K1 = Subsoil soil + Gamal leaf compost (1:1), K2 = Subsoil soil + Gamal leaf compost (2:1),
K3 = Subsoil soil + Gamal leaf compost (3:1). The results showed that the treatment of K1 = Subsoil
soil + Gamal leaf compost (1:1) exerted the best influence in supporting the growth of mahagony
seedlings (Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Jacq) compared to other treatments, where it was seen that the
parameters of the average in crease in height of the seedlings K1 (5,39 cm), K2 (4,11 cm), K3 (3,23 cm)
and K0 (2,42 cm). The average rod diameters are K1 (1,59 mm), K2 (1,27mm), K3 (0,93 mm) and K0
(0,56 mm). The average number of leaves is K1 (9,67 strands), K2 (7,67 strands), K3 (5,89 strands), K0
(4,11 strands) and seed quality index values K1 (1,34), K2 (1,32), K3 (1,21) and K0 (1,18).
